Carter Rich PC law firm is happy to announce that Margarita Salcedo Rice, JD MBA has successfully completed all the requirements to be licensed by the State Bar of California to practice law in California.
Her dream to become a licensed attorney in California was fulfilled on May 7 when she learned she had passed the February 2021 California Bar Exam, one of the most stringent exams in the country. The examination consists of two full days of 6 essays and 200 multiple choice questions. Of the 3,098 people who took the test, only 1,151 passed, a success rate of 37.2 percent.
Margarita, also known as Margie, has been a member of this community along with her husband, Geoffrey L. Rice, M.D., local ophthalmologist, since 1985. She is known primarily for her music, having been a member of the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra since 1985 and concertmistress since 1989.
“The attention to detail that has made Margie such a great musician will serve her well as she embarks on her career as an attorney,” said Alexander Rich, a partner at the firm.
Prior to studying law, Margie graduated in 1982 magna cum laude with a BS degree in Business Administration and a minor in Music from Loma Linda University. In 1985 she graduated with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Ms. Salcedo Rice studied law at Concord Law School, part of Purdue University Global. Her dream to study law began in college when she took a business law course. After 30 years, she decided to secretly apply to law school and begin her journey in the legal field. In 2017, Margie completed a judicial internship with the Superior Court of Mendocino County under the leadership of Judge John Behnke. In 2019, she graduated from law school with honors and received a Juris Doctor.
Ms. Salcedo Rice has been employed as a law clerk by Carter Rich PC law firm since January 2019.
